Majahuitas is located on the south side of the bay a relaxing 45 minute boat ride, this is the perfect dive for anyone looking for a leisurely paced dive through the underwater world.
The start point is located just south of the beach, Majahuitas, which is named after a species of tall grass that grows in the mountains nearby. This is the only dive site where it’s posible to see the Cortez garden eel in large numbers. Depths range from 8 metres/30 feet all the way down to 33 metres/100 feet. All dives follow the same route, with the big difference being the wealth of aquatic life you’ll encounter should you want to go deep; the deeper you go, the more chance of coming face-to-face with sting rays, fish nurseries and garden eels. The shallow dive puts you in the middle of an abundance of tropical fish with a good chance of seeing eagle rays, turtles and, for those of us fortunate enough, possibly even a passing manta ray. Majahuitas is also one of the best dive sites to photograph nudibranches as there’s very rarely anything like a strong current in these waters.
The icing on this already tempting cake is that you can choose to have your lunch on a secluded beach, away from the world with nothing but time and good company. The second dive is selected based on the conditions of the day with the option of any of the dive sites along this coast.
